Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to have £100million plus cash earned from transfer sales to spend this summer after 18 months of no new arrivals at the club, according to the Times.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Lilywhites are able to splash the cash despite the huge amounts of money spent on building their new stadium and that they made a record amount of profit for the 2017-18 season.

It is stated that Pochettino could offload a number of players this summer, with almost certain departures for Fernando Llorente and Michel Vorm, while the futures of Kieran Trippier, Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen, Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld and Christain Eriksen all uncertain.

Opinion

Is this the summer where Tottenham take themselves from plucky underdogs among the top four of the Premier League to genuine big spenders with huge ambitions? The job that Pochettino and his players have done with no new recruits has been nothing short of extraordinary and so the new additions which are expected this summer should help them hit new heights which have been out of their reach of late. Of course throwing money at the transfer market does not guarantee success and Pochettino will have to spend what money he does have available smartly. He could lose some of his best players too and so replacing them with quality reinforcements is of course a must. It promises to be an exciting summer for the north London faithful but at the same time they should be wary of the new arrivals, not to mention the first team departures, upsetting the apple cart.
