Tottenham have made a bid of £10million for Leeds United’s promising winger Jack Clarke, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The online newspaper report that Tottenham have been tracking Clarke throughout the 18-year-old’s impressive season with Leeds in the Championship, and have now made offer around £10million for the talented winger.

It is thought that Tottenham are keen to recruit a player with potential for Mauricio Pochettino to develop with his coaching this summer, but Spurs could face competition from the likes of Crystal Palace and Arsenal for Clarke’s signature.

Good signing for Tottenham?

Clarke is a very promising young player and he has shown impressive form under the coaching of Marcelo Bielsa in the Championship this season, with the 18-year-old making 22 appearances for Leeds this campaign.

The winger has demonstrated his potential managing to score two goals, whilst also averaging 0.7 key passes and 1.1 successful dribbles per game [whoscored.com], despite coming off the bench in a lot of his appearances rather than starting the match.

That highlights that he could be the sort of player who Pochettino could develop in a similar way to what he has done with the likes of Deli Ali, when the England international arrived from MK Dons.

Likely to happen?

Tottenham have not made a signing in the last two transfer windows, but it appears as though this summer they are going to be looking to improve their squad, and Clarke is the sort of young signing with potential that Daniel Levy could be willing to sanction with.

Levy though is unlikely to want to get involved in a bidding war for the 18-year-old, so Tottenham may need to move fast to secure Clarke’s signature ahead of the other clubs who have been credited with an interest in the winger.

Pochettino’s track record of developing young player and helping them show their potential could make the Argentine keen on gaining the services of someone like Clarke, which could open the door for him to move to Tottenham.
