You would think that for a professional footballer playing 37 games would be more than enough to satiate their desire for first team football but in the case of Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez it appears he wants more.

The Colombian, one of the stand out performers for Spurs last season, might not have been the first name on the team sheet this year but still has plenty of minutes under his belt and as a 22-year-old, he is more experienced than a lot of players his age.

Seven starts in the Champions League, 22 in the Premier League and five more in the domestic cups are not the sort of stats which you would associate with someone who feels they are on the sidelines but if reports are to be believed, frustration is bubbling behind the scenes.

Don Balon claim on their website that the powerful defender is eyeing up a new challenge this summer after falling behind Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen in the pecking order and Mauricio Pochettino needs to knock some sense into the delusional South American.

He is at a completely different stage of his career to the Belgian pair and he should be looking to learn from such experienced talents to help improve his own game so he can take over when they step aside.

He was brought in as a long term replacement for one of the pair and his angst at his game time shows a worrying amount of short sightedness from the young talent.

Pochettino needs to make it clear what his plans are going forward, both for the club and for the player, and some perspective would do him the world of good.
