PSV Eindhoven are expecting Tottenham to launch a bid for Dutch international winger Steven Bergwijn this week as they look to beat Ajax to his capture, according to Voetbal International.

The Netherlands-based publication claim on their website that the Eredivisie side, who finished as runners up to Ajax in the league this season, are expecting to welcome an offer from the north London outfit for 21-year-old Bergwijn over the coming days.

The five-cap forward enjoyed a successful season in front of goal, scoring 15 in all competitions and adding another 13 assists to his tally.

Good move for Tottenham?

Spurs are not exactly lacking in the attacking third with the likes of Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Heung-min Son all battling it out for a place on the wings.

However, Bergwijn offers not only service from out wide but a constant threat of a goal or two himself and they could certainly do with some more cutting edge from those other than Harry Kane.

He is young, talented and fits the Tottenham mould quite nicely. He might not have a starting place guaranteed and there will be some doubts over his ability to take his form from the Netherlands and replicate it in the Premier League, but all the signs point to him being a savvy capture this summer.

Likely to happen?

The Premier League is a draw to most footballers and if it comes down to Ajax versus Tottenham for his capture, the Lilywhites will be feeling pretty confident.

Yes, it means leaving his home country but the money on offer would alone be enough of a reason for him to leave.

Spurs fans might well be looking at their first signing in 18 months here.
