Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has said, “Sorry I don’t talk about rumours” when asked if Christian Eriksen had already signed for Real Madrid.

Pochettino was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the second-leg of the Champions league semi-final against Ajax.

He added that Eriksen “is a player we want to keep”.

Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold quoted Pochettino on his personal Twitter page on Tuesday afternoon.

OPINION

Pochettino is going to have to get used to this question and it’s going to be a long summer for Spurs fans. He still hasn’t signed a new contract and it’s looking increasingly unlikely that he’s not going to, but you never know. It all depends what offers come in and whether Daniel Levy is in a mind to do business. Real Madrid is a rumour that’s not going away though and it does seem like they are desperate to land the Tottenham midfielder. We actually think a sale could be a positive thing for Tottenham. If they can get £80-£100million for him, Pochettino will finally have serious funds to invest in new players. His war chest is likely to be limited without significant sales and you’ve only got to look at Liverpool to see how the right price for a player can mean an exit is in the best interests of a club.
