Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy used his column in the club’s final Premier League matchday programme of the season to describe the campaign as “one of the most epic in the club’s history”.

Spurs made sure of qualification for next season’s Champions League with a 2-2 draw against Everton on the final day, but the North London club are still involved in this year’s competition after Lucas Moura’s incredible hat-trick against Ajax.

The Brazilian was the hero in Amsterdam after his three second-half goals ensured Spurs would meet Liverpool in the final in Madrid on June 1.

As quoted by the Daily Mirror, Levy also used his programme notes to reward the hard work of the other team members for helping Spurs finish the season with a chance of silverware.

“To reach the final against Liverpool on 1 June is something we have all achieved together. Everyone contributes to a team — staff, players, management and fans.

“No one person can do this alone, it’s the strength of everyone pulling together in the same direction which brings success and I thank each and every one who is part of this team including the millions of our fans around the world.

“Even before the incredible events of Wednesday night in Amsterdam, this campaign has been one of the most epic in the club’s history.

“I am delighted for Mauricio and his team — it is so well deserved and evidence of the truly amazing spirit we have within this squad. I hope they realise the total joy and exhilaration they have given us fans. We are so proud of them all.

“We dare to dream and we want nothing more than to bring the Champions League trophy to North London. It’s been unbelievable and now it’s time to believe.”

OPINION

Yes, it hasn’t been the greatest of seasons for Spurs in the league, only finishing fourth. The club would have wanted to finish a lot higher but with the quality of Liverpool and Manchester City this season, third was only really as high as they would have got. But Tottenham’s incredible Champions League run has softened that blow. What a rollercoaster it has been. Getting past Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 seemed easy enough, but the last two rounds will have been hard to watch for the vast majority of Spurs fans. Nevertheless, Spurs have defied all the odds and reached the final, and they definitely deserve to be there. If Spurs were to win it, it would be an incredible achievement. If they don’t, one thing the club must do is focus on keeping manager Mauricio Pochettino happy, as well as all the players, because this could be one of a number of seasons of success for the North London outfit.
