Tottenham could be without attacker Harry Kane and defender Davinson Sanchez for their clash with Ajax on Wednesday, according to Football.London reporter Alasdair Gold.

The reliable journalist shared, via his personal Twitter account, that he had heard that Kane wouldn’t be available to face Ajax and claimed that Sanchez could miss out as he had picked up an injury.

Gold also added that Erik Lamela could be fit enough to be named on the bench, before stressing that what he had heard was yet to be confirmed.

“Hearing that Harry Kane won’t be available to face Ajax on Wednesday, Erik Lamela could be fit for the bench but Davinson Sanchez has an injury and could miss out. I must stress that none of that is confirmed yet and we’ll find out the latest tomorrow from Poch in Amsterdam,” wrote Gold on his verified Twitter account.

OPINION

Sanchez, who earns £65,000-a-week at Spurs (Source: Spotrac), will be a big loss for Pochettino on Wednesday as he had a solid game against Ajax in the first-leg. However the Spurs manager sounds like he is going to have to find a way to cope without him, and hopefully he is able to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Pochettino doesn’t have much depth regarding his defensive options and may have to get creative. As for the Kane update, it’s no surprise that he is unlikely to feature on Wednesday. The England captain was always up against it to get fit in time to feature and Spurs will want to avoid taking any unnecessary risks. While some may be disappointed by Kane being missing, hopefully other players will continue to step up in his absence. Also it may be considered good news that Lamela will be fit for Wednesday, however if the attacker is set to play a part, even if from the bench, he needs to up his game significantly.
