Harry Redknapp has said that he would start Harry Kane in the Champions League final if he was the Tottenham manager.

That’s the big decision that’s facing Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the massive game in Madrid on Saturday evening.

Talking on the Jim White Show (talkSPORT, Friday, 9.30am), Tony Cascarino asked Redknapp what he would do if he was Pochettino and whether he would start Kane.

“He’s such an incredible pro,” Redknapp said. “If he wasn’t right he wouldn’t be asking to play.

“If he says he’s ready then you bet your life. He’s just amazing.”

OPINION

Kane has declared himself fit for the final and if Redknapp was in charge he would definitely be starting by the sounds of it. However, we’re not sure so Pochettino will do the same thing. Kane won’t be match fit even if he has completely recovered from his injury. He hasn’t played since the start of April and this game will be intense. It could also go 120 minutes and to penalties, and if it does then Pochettino will want his best attackers on the pitch at then end. Having a fresh Kane coming on in the second-half of the game could be an absolute game-changer and we think that’s the right way to go. We doubt anyone would expect Kane to be able to go 120 minutes, but he could go an hour if he was brought on in the 60th minute with extra-time looming. Kane will be desperate to start in the biggest game of his career but Pochettino will do what’s right for the team.
