Five players on Tottenham shortlist

Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring five new players to north London in the summer, according to the Evening Standard.

Real Betis playmaker Giovani Lo Celso and Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele head a shortlist of players that also boasts Leeds youngster Jack Clarke and Fulham twins Ryan and Steven Sessegnon.

Lo Celso has an £88m release clause and while Beits want that valuation to be met, Tottenham are reportedly unwilling to go that high and break their club-record fee.

OPINION

If Pochettino brought all five of these players to Tottenham in the summer we doubt there’d be a single Tottenham fan who would be disappointed. Jack Grealish seems to have dropped off the list after Aston Villa got promoted but we were never convinced that he would be able to make the step-up to a side like Tottenham. Lo Celso and Ndombele are the two marquee signings here and the latter could solve the midfield problems that Tottenham have been having since Mousa Demebele left in January. Lo Celso is one that Tottenham seem really keen on but the two sides are way apart in terms of valuation at the moment. It seems like he would be Tottenham’s if Levy was willing to match the £88million release clause but that would involve smashing the club-record transfer… Doubling it in fact. Will Levy have to stomach to do that? It’s unlikely.
