There are plenty of players that Newcastle United fans would like to see the back of sooner rather than later but with a limited squad they know they have to grin and bear the bang average talents plugging up holes.

The likes of Kenedy, Christian Atsu and DeAndre Yedlin are never going to win an award for best player on Tyneside but they have still all played their part this season due to manager Rafael Benitez needing to call upon the entirety of his squad as the season has progressed.

With a summer of uncertainty, both in terms of new signings and Benitez’s future, the Toon Army are looking for anything which suggests the club are looking at heading in the right direction and it seems that could finally be the case.

Losing a striker is hardly something the club can afford with their lack of options but with the reputable Football Insider claiming that Joselu’s departure this summer is almost a certainty – surely a sign the club are looking at progressing when it comes to the talent on their books.

A hard worker, Joselu has plummeted down the pecking order and rightly so, his graft no substitute for a lack of cutting edge, with Salomon Rondon the first choice hitman.

Joselu’s exit would only be given the green light if the club were confident of securing a replacement this summer and if that is the case, then Benitez will be feeling more assured of the Magpies backing him in the transfer window.

The Spanish forward represents everything that was wrong with Newcastle’s transfer policy of late and getting rid would be an exciting step forward.
