Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that Everton, Manchester United and West Ham had all been offered the chance to take Kevin Strootman on loan by Marseille. Yet many Toffees supporters were dismayed by the broadcaster linking them to the 29-year-old midfielder. Several showed their displeasure by simply saying no to the opportunity to see the player arrive at Goodison Park, while one used 31-year-old Kevin Mirallas to make their case about why the Toffees should steer clear of Strootman. One pointed out that if Marseille were offering to loan Strootman out, it could mean that the player isn’t worth having at their club. Mirallas was difficult for the Toffees to get off their books and as such, the Toffees have loaned him out a couple of times just to not have him at Goodison Park. While you can see where that Everton fan is coming from, it’s unfair to compare Strootman with Mirallas. Sky Sports’ report pointed out that the French club are trying to cut costs, hence why they’re actively trying to get the midfielder off their books.
