Besiktas club officials are planning a trip to Merseyside to discuss Everton striker Cenk Tosun’s future at Goodison Park, according to Takvim.

The Turkish news outlet claim that the 27-year-old – who was pictured watching former club Alanyaspor in action earlier this week – is keen on a return to Turkey following a dreadful spell in the North West.

Takvim report that the two clubs are at odds over the length of Tosun’s proposed move back to Besiktas, with the Turkish club said to prefer a loan deal while the Toffees want him offloaded permanently.

The 37-cap striker made 29 appearances last season, scoring four goals for the Blues.

OPINION

It really has been a torrid time for Tosun at Everton. After being signed from Besiktas by Sam Allardyce last January, he has only made 43 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals and assisting three others. It would seem from this report that Toffees boss Marco Silva is not interested one bit in keeping the Turkish international on Merseyside, with the Merseyside club holding out for a permanent deal only. It would also seem that Tosun’s efforts on the final day of the Premier League season to impress his manager have not worked either. Tosun scored to make it 2-1 against Tottenham last Sunday, but from what this report says, Silva’s mind has already been made up and there is no going back now. It wouldn’t be a big loss for Everton to see Tosun leave, and if he does, they could use the money to reinvest in a better striker.
