OPINION
Phil Foden was given the chance to prove himself again in Manchester City’s fixture against Leicester City at the Etihad, but it’s safe to say that the 18-year old didn’t step up when called upon this time. The midfield maestro who has shown lots of positive signs so far this season was nowhere to be seen for Pep Guardiola’s side in the fixture, and although he didn’t do anything wrong in particular, it was his seemingly passive performance which seemed to rile up some of the City faithful. Although it can’t really be expected for a youngster to always step up to the task in fixtures of this significance, it didn’t even seem like the 18-year old was trying at times. His lacklustre performance resulted in a early second half substitution, seeing Foden replaced with Leroy Sane to bring some extra flare to the seemingly boring tie. The forward will no doubt get more chances on the big stage, but he will need to take them more effectively for sure. However while Foden did disappoint, Man City fans will be pleased their side still managed to defeat Leicester 1-0.
