COMMENTARY
In what was the club’s biggest game of the season, the Arsenal fans were left heartbroken as Chelsea waltzed their way to the Europa League title. After a tight first half, it was men against boys in the second 45 minutes as the Blues ran the Gunners ragged and defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira was singled out by many of the north London faithful for criticism. In the side to break up Chelsea attacks, the Uruguay international actually performed pretty well for most of the first half, but he was a bystander as Maurizio Sarri’s side took things up a notch. The supporters are absolutely right to be raging as his lack of control on the game saw the pendulum swing heavily in favour of their London rivals in Baku. Eden Hazard drifted past him time and again and it should have come as no surprise to see him hooked off by Unai Emery shortly after Chelsea’s third. He has been a consistent performer for the Gunners but when it mattered most he went missing. A huge disappointment for the supporters, who have come to expect so much more.
