Mirror journalist John Cross has moved swiftly to reassure Arsenal fans after star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was spotted wearing strapping on his arm in training.

This came about after a fall he suffered in training recently but, according to Cross, it’s just a precaution to protect his wrist and he will be fit to play in the Europa League final.

Cross gave delivered the fitness update on Tuesday evening ahead of the matcha against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

OPINION

This is good news for Arsenal fans who would have been worried to see the strapping on Aubameyang’s arm ahead of the game. However, it looks like he will be fit to play as the Gunners aim to finish an up-and-down season on a high by winning the Europa, getting one over on their rivals and qualifying for the Champions League. That makes for a pretty high-stakes game where they’ll need to be on top form to get past a potentially weakened Chelsea side. N’Golo Kante is only 50/50 for the game and he would be a big miss for Sarri’s side. Chelsea have already qualified for the Champions League but they’ll be desperate to pop the Gunners party balloons tomorrow night. Arsenal are already without Henrikh Mkhitaryan after it was decided that his safety couldn’t be guaranteed because of the ongoing conflict in the region. That’s caused controversy with UEFA before a ball’s even been kicked in the showpiece final. For Arsenal, it’s a chance to right the wrongs of a very disappointing end to the campaign, that saw them fail to qualify despite the door to the top-four being left open by the teams around them. We’ve got Arsenal to shade it in a tight game with few goals.
