OPINION
Wolves have reportedly opened talks to sign West Brom striker Salomon Rondon, and that has understandably upset some Newcastle United fans on Twitter. The Daily Mail has reported that Rafa Benitez wants to sign Rondon, 29, on a permanent deal from the Baggies with his £16.5million release clause now active, but it seems as though Albion’s bitter Black Country rivals Wolves have stolen a march on the Magpies in an effort to sign the Venezuela international. Rondon has been fantastic for Newcastle this season, scoring 12 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions and winning the Tyneside club’s player of the year award. It is going to be really frustrating for Newcastle fans to see a player that they adore, and know will do well for them, go to a team higher up in the league. Hopefully for their sake, Rondon will show a little bit of loyalty to West Brom and snub Molineux on the chance that a move to St James’ Park is still on the cards.
