Whoever the new West Bromwich Albion manager is will make a decision on the future of forward Oliver Burke after pre season, according to the Express & Star.

The newspaper claims that the new Baggies boss will run the rule over the 22-year-old speedster this summer, after his loan spell with Celtic came to an end recently.

The crunch decision will then be made as to whether the Scotland international has a future at The Hawthorns or if he will be moved on this summer.

OPINION

This is a bit of an interesting one, isn’t it? Burke seemed to flourish during the early stages of his loan spell with Celtic and looked to really be coming on as a false nine under Brendan Rodgers. However, since the Northern Irishman made the switch to Leicester City and his compatriot Neil Lennon took over from him at Parkhead, the youngster saw a serious decline in his first team minutes. That’s left him in no man’s land somewhat, as he returns to West Brom. He’s clearly a talented player and has been for many years now, but something’s never quite clicked for him with the Baggies. It seemed like he was on the verge of getting things back on track in Glasgow, but then the rug was swept from underneath him. Now he faces a pivotal summer. The good thing for him, though, is that he is likely to get a fresh start under the new West Brom manager. If he can convince him he’s worthy of a first team spot then he’ll stay, if not he’ll likely be on the move again.
