Samir Nasri is set to be one of nine first team said members moved on by West Ham this summer, according to the Express.

The £80,00-a-week Frenchman has made just five appearances since signing on a short term deal in January, and it is understood that Manuel Pellegrini is looking to get his sizeable wage off the club’s books.

According to the report, Nasri will not be the only star to face the axe, with Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez, Pedro Obiang, Adrian, Sam Byram, Jordan Hugill, and Edmilson Fernandes all set to be given the boot.

Good move for West Ham?

If we’re being honest, there’s a lot of deadwood in this squad, and looking at that list the Express has given, will any of these players be missed? Probably not. Nasri is the standout name by virtue of the fact that there have been times this season when he has looked as if he could cause some real problems for an opposition defence, but five appearances just isn’t enough, and concerns about his fitness could ultimately cost him his shot at another spell in the Premier League, having enjoyed such a decent time of it at Manchester City.

Likely to happen?

Are the Hammers likely to sell nine players this summer? Why not? Summer clear outs like this one don’t always go to plan, and it’s not uncommon for sides to be left with a couple of stragglers, but if they play their cards right and get themselves organised, there should be suitors out there for all of these players. Getting rid of so many could do wonders for Pellegrini’s budget, and for the club’s wage bill, and the hope will be that cutting some of these lads adrift will allow the club to soar in the long run.
