Kiko Casilla’s abysmal performance in the play-offs has understandably led to many Leeds United fans taking to Twitter to urge the club to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. West Ham have recently confirmed that Spanish shot-stopper Adrian is now available as a free agent after deciding not to extend his contract past the end of this season. Many Leeds fans have since made it clear on social media that they want the club to sign the 32-year-old goalkeeper, who has 125 Premier League appearances to his name, and while that would not be a bad idea, snapping up the 6ft 3 [transfermarkt] ace would no doubt be a tough move to negotiate. There’s no way that Leeds could afford the wages of both Adrian and Casilla, so if the ex-West Ham ‘keeper comes in, Marcelo Bielsa’s January signing will have to be offloaded. That might be unlikely considering Bielsa’s loyalty to his players and the fact that Casilla penned a four-and-a-half year deal when he joined in the winter. Adrian would be an upgrade on Casilla, but it just might be too hard to pull off a deal.
