Everton are set for a £5million windfall if former star Romelu Lukaku is sold before June 30, 2022 (or extends his current deal with Man United), according to prominent journalist Kristof Terreur.
The Belgian journalist claimed that Antonio Conte is close to taking over at Inter Milan and that the United striker is one of his summer targets if he takes the job.
Terreur confirmed that Everton would get £5million if Lukaku was sold, but said there were a number of hurdles to get past before the potential £75m+ Inter/Lukaku move could happen.
Everton are still getting £5m if Romelu Lukaku is sold before 30 June 2022 (or extends his deal before that date). At the moment there are still a lot of ifs before a deal (with Inter) might be done. #efc #mufc

They paid £75m. And there are £10m in bonuses. £5m in case of a sale / extension and a maximum total of £5m if he scores 25 goals per season in all competitions over his five contract years.

OPINION
We can see Lukaku being sold this summer, although the fee that United want and his wages might well scare some clubs off. Terreur questioned whether Inter would be able to stomach the £75million+ fee and wages that are reported to be £180,000-a-week. Lukaku didn’t have a good season at Old Trafford, scoring just 15 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions (way below the 25 Everton needed each year to bag another £5million bonus from the transfer) and we don’t think he fits into the philosophy that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to introduce at the club. However, he is still an elite striker and a move would probably suit him too. He needs to play for a side that wants to build a team around a traditional striker and Conte knows the player well. His club record has been exemplary and he’s scored 45 goals in 79 games for Belgium – a prolific international tally.
