Everton fans will no doubt have to work their memories to remember that they have a nine cap Nigerian on their books – but you can be sure Marco Silva has kept a close eye on his man.

This particular 21-year-old is of course Henry Onyekuru and two years after signing the Toffees faithful are still yet to see the forward line up for their club in a competitive clash.

A versatile attacker, who is able to play as a winger or as a centre forward, has been shipped out loan for both seasons, firstly to Anderlecht just a day after his arrival at Goodison Park, while he has spent the last 10 months at Galatasaray.

His time in Turkey’s top flight has been a success – 16 goals and six assists across all competitions for the Super Lig outfit – and it seems as though the move has had a big impact on the youngster.

Speaking of his future, Onyekuru has revealed he wants to remain at Galatasaray, telling Turkish newspaper Hurriyet: “My decision and my wish is to stay in Galatasaray. If Everton listen to me, this is something which can be decided between the two clubs.”

Unfortunately for Onyekuru, Marco Silva is in need of a regular goalscorer in his side and as such the Portuguese boss needs to break the heart of the forward.

The likes of Cenk Tosun – with four goals – and Dominic Calvert-Lewin – with eight – have hardly lived up to expectation leading the line, with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison leading the goal scoring stakes.

With pace to burn – the hitman claiming he is among the fastest in the Super Lig – and an eye for goal, Onyekuru could bring a different element to the Toffees’ attack, using his speed to launch blistering counter attacks.

The fact Everton fans have not seen the forward in action surely means he needs to be given a chance in the Premier League before they make a decision over his future – unfortunately for Onyekuru, it means him missing out on his move to Galatasaray.
