Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani needs to promise manager Marcelo Bielsa that the funds will be made to sign the likes of Brentford’s Neal Maupay and Birmingham City’s Che Adams this summer to keep him on board, according to Henry Winter.

The Times journalist claims in his column for the newspaper that the Argentine will need some persuading to stay at Elland Road this summer and that the Italian chief needs to be giving the green light to sign a prolific hitman, naming Maupay and Adams as two prime targets.

The Brentford ace has hit 28 goals across all competitions while the Birmingham hitman has 22 goals to his name in the Championship, making it 50 goals between them.

Leeds’ top scorer this season was Kemar Roofe with 15, while the goals from Pablo Hernandez, Mateusz Klich and Patrick Bamford only add up to 47 in total.

Opinion

What Leeds would have done for an out-and-out goal scorer this season. It was perhaps their biggest weakness and you can understand why Bielsa will be looking for promises from the board over fixing that this summer. He has worked miracles with a squad who finished 13th before his arrival but there is only so far he can work his magic. Maybe another summer of working with his squad, adding a couple of new players to bolster their ranks and take the weight off the shoulders of those who have gone above and beyond out on the pitch, could make the difference. One thing is for certain – losing Bielsa would leave Leeds in the lurch once again and after all they have been through this season it is the absolute last thing they would want. Can Radrizzani make the promises Bielsa needs to stay on board. You would expect after all the faith he has put in his manager, he can find that much needed cash.
