COMMENTARY
Tammy Abraham has been the hero for Aston Villa so many times at one end of the pitch this season but he quickly turned to zero when defending his own goal versus West Brom. In what was a crucial first 45 minutes against their west midlands rivals, the striker appeared to make a half hearted effort to try and stop Craig Dawson’s header which eventually ended up in the back of the net and levelling the scores on aggregate. With very little joy in attack it is understandable that the Villa faithful have taken to Twitter to slaughter his first half efforts, although perhaps their criticism is a little harsh. Dawson’s header was well placed between the two Villa men at the back post, while he needed more support from those around him to have any sort of threat up front. Maybe he could have tried holding the ball up better, but that is not really his game. Not what the travelling Villa supporters wanted to see from a man who has been a standout performer all season.
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets:
Tammy Abraham's position for that goal was atrocious, and Elmo's wasn't much better. What a disappointment. Conceding from a throw in is one of the worst ways to concede, especially after that domination. Work to do now. Real shame.#AVFC

Abraham has single handedly put the ‘good touch for a big man’ saying to bed. Really needs to work on his hold up play #AVFC
