Dean Smith is poised to complete a move to bring 6ft 3in Wolves loanee, Kortney Hause, to the club on a permanent basis, according to Birmingham Live

After an impressive loan spell with the Villans, Kortney Hause is wanted permanently by the promotion-chasing club.

Hause and fellow loanee Tyrone Mings have formed an impressive partnership since being brought to the club, during a period where Villa won 10 on the bounce – the club’s longest winning streak in their history.

The 23-year-old joined Wolves in 2014, but after winning promotion to the Premier League last term, his game time became limited resulting in a move away from the club.

Good move for Villa?

With promotion still a strong possibility, Hause would provide sufficient defensive cover either in the Premier League or  Championship. Villa will not have to break the bank to secure his signature and the move should suit all three parties. Hause will be a cheaper option in comparison with bringing in loanees Tyrone Mings and Alex Tuanzebe on permanent deals, all three have similar attributes.

Likely to happen?

Given that Villa have been so successful during the time that Hause has been with the club, it would make sense for the defender to return. The Villans have just two permanent central defenders at the club in James Chester and Tommy Elphick, so cover and additional defensive recruits will be essential. Hause provides athleticism, strength and speed, which is something that any Championship would benefit from. Wolves have a big enough squad to allow the deal to take place, so the chances of Hause moving permanently to Villa looking highly likely.
