What does every Leeds fan want more than anything at the moment?
Promotion to the Premier League. And after that? A guarantee that manager Marcelo Bielsa will still be in charge next season, whatever division they end up in after the play-offs.
And, while the latest missive from Andrea Radrizzani isn’t quite that, it doesn’t feel that far off.
According to Football Insider, a source close to the Leeds owner has said that Radrizzani is “confident” that Bielsa will stay regardless of what division they end up in.
And, let’s remember, there’s still a very good chance that they’ll end up in the Premier League.
However, if the worst was to happen and Leeds miss out on promotion through the play-offs, Bielsa staying would surely give them a great chance of going up these season after.
Football Insider said that, “The owner’s confidence is borne out of the fact that the manager is already discussing plans with the club hierarchy for next season, including transfer targets and continued alterations of the club’s Thorp Arch training base.”
We’re not surprised. So much has happened this season, Bielsa has done so much and the spygate scandal and the recent fracas with Aston Villa will surely have led to much more solidarity between everyone at Leeds.
We think Leeds have crept into Bielsa’s heart and we’re desperately hoping he stays. The English game, whatever any staid pundit says, would be much worse without him.
