Danny Mills has revealed that he is only 50 percent confident that Marcelo Bielsa will stay on as Leeds United manager next season.

The Argentine has yet to make a public decision on his future, and Mills has admitted that he is amazed that owner Andrea Radrizzani still doesn’t know if the boss will be there next term.

Speaking on talkSPORT (May 23rd, 5.45pm), when asked how confident he was of Bielsa staying, Mills said: “I’m 50/50.

“Should he [Radrizzani] not know this by now?

“Over the Easter break, Leeds had a wobble and it clearly looked like they were going to go into the play-offs. He’s had a couple of months to think ‘we might not get promoted’. If they don’t, what is the plan?

“Have they not been talking about this? Was there no contingency?”

OPINION

Mills raises some very valid points here, but there is an element of only Bielsa can rally decide his future. Yes, you would hope that the club would get an answer out of him as soon as they could, but at the end of the day, if Bielsa hasn’t decided, Bielsa hasn’t decided. You would hope that the chances of him staying are a little higher than 50/50 though. The Argentine seems to have fallen a little bit in love with the club, and you get the impression that it would be a really difficult decision for him to walk away from Elland Road. Things aren’t always that simple, of course, but if you were to base your prediction on emotion and emotion alone, it is hard to see the Argentine walking away. Mills is a lot more pragmatic than that, however, and if he is only halfway convinced, then perhaps Leeds fans should be a little bit worried.
