Danny Mills revealed he was baffled why clubs weren’t banging down Aston Villa’s door in order to try and sign Jack Grealish.

The pundit shared he didn’t understand why no one had taken a gamble on signing the 23-year-old attacking midfielder as he pointed out a raft of clubs should be keen.

Mills also pointed out that Tottenham nearly signing Grealish for £25million last summer, as stated by the Daily Mirror, didn’t count as they weren’t prepared to pay the amount it took to get him.

“Why has no one taken a gamble on Grealish yet? As what is he now, twenty…mid twenties?” said Mills on talkSPORT (18:10, Thursday May 23rd).

“Yeah (on Tottenham link) but they weren’t prepared to pay £25million whatever it was, I just wonder why there aren’t a raft of clubs banging on Villa’s door to get his signature.”

OPINION

Mills has a point, why aren’t the Villans constantly battering away interested clubs when it comes to Grealish? The 23-year-old attacking midfielder is a tremendous talent and clubs should be clambering over themselves to get him, this is especially the case when you consider his form this season. Grealish has scored six goals, while assisting eight, in his 34 outings and his return to fitness after an injury coincided with the Villans’ going on an amazing run of form. The only reason to think of why clubs aren’t currently banging down Villa’s door, is that clubs are waiting to see if the Villans win promotion. Smith’s team are set to face Derby County on Monday in the Championship play-off and perhaps clubs don’t think he’s worth pursuing if the Villans reach the Premier League. Grealish clearly loves Aston Villa and if he can stay at Villa Park while getting Premier League football, it doesn’t seem likely he’ll be open to a move.
