Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa looks to be set to remain in charge of the Championship club next season after dropping a hint about his future, according to Football Insider.

The reliable outlet report that Bielsa is already preparing for next season by planning to identify the club’s potential transfer targets this summer, and suggesting some improvements that could be made to Leeds’ training ground Thorp Arch.

Bielsa’s future is in doubt after the Whites missed out on promotion, but it is thought that the Argentine met with Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta on Saturday to discuss a list of transfer targets ahead of a shake-up of the squad.

OPINION

The majority of Leeds supporters will be hoping that Bielsa will be remaining in charge at Elland Road next season, despite the Argentine failing to guide the club to promotion in his first year in charge. Although Leeds did miss out on promotion, finishing in third place in the Championship and then losing in the play-off semi-finals to Derby County, the Whites have made significant progress under Bielsa this season. The Argentine has transformed a side who finished in mid-table the year before into one that plays some of the most attractive football outside the top flight. The transformation has been remarkable considering he has largely been working with the same squad as Leeds had the previous campaign, and the Whites were arguably a more clinical striker away from automatic promotion this season. That is something that Bielsa will be keen to ensure he has at his disposal next year, and will almost certainly have been discussing which forwards to make a move for in his discussions with Leeds’ sporting director.
