Premier League side Burnley are plotting a move for Leeds striker Kemar Roofe, according to Football Insider

Leeds’ top scorer this season has had a season that’s been plagued by injury, which makes his 14-goal tally even more impressive – and that’s got him noticed by several Premier League sides.

Leeds are aware of the interest and are set to open talks with Roofe at the end of the season in a bid to ward off suitors.

The 26-year-old striker, who signed for £3million from Oxford in the summer of 2016, is out of contract in 2020.

OPINION

Leeds are playing a risky game with Roofe coming up to the final year of his contract. However, their stance has always been that they would open talks at the end of the season when they know what division they’ll be playing in next year. If that’s the Premier League, via the play-offs, then Roofe will be in for a big bump in wages. However, even if Leeds stay in the Championship they’ll be keen to tie him down with an improved deal which would guarantee a bigger fee if they were to lose him to a Premier League side. Roofe might decide that he wants a move, though, and that could leave Leeds in a vulnerable position. There’s so much riding on the next few games for Leeds that it must be torture for the owner, Andrea Radrizzni, and for the fans. Ipswich on Sunday might be a dead rubber but Leeds will want to build up some momentum going into the play-offs the following week.
