Tottenham are reportedly in the hunt to sign Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo – and that is surely bad news for Serge Aurier.

According to the Mirror, the 25-year-old Portugal international is wanted by Spurs this summer and fortunately for them, Barcelona have made him available for £30million.

Semedo joined Barca from Benfica two yeas ago and has impressed at the Nou Camp in most of his performances.

However he has started to drop down the pecking order a bit with Sergi Roberto taking his spot in the starting line-up away from him towards the end of the season.

And now it is understood that Barca are willing to part ways with the right-back in a bid to raise funds for this summer’s transfer window.

Of course that is great news for Tottenham, who have suffered from having two under-performing right-backs this season in Kieran Trippier and £70,000-a-week [Spotrac] Aurier.

Although Trippier has received a lot of criticism, it would still be fair to say that the England international is a better option at right-back than Aurier, a view that is clearly shared by Mauricio Pochettino with Trippier starting 35 matches across all competitions and Aurier only starting 15.

With the Ivory Coast international as Spurs’ second-choice right-back, any addition to his position should see him booted out in the summer.

It is something that Spurs are already said to be considering with Football.London reporting in March that the club is ready to offload the former Paris Saint-German right-back.

Aurier might as well tell Pochettino that he wants to quit Tottenham in the summer with the Argentine boss reportedly in pursuit of Semedo.

Signing the Portuguese flyer will simply leave Aurier playing less and less games because the ex-Benfica man is just miles better than him in every single attribute that is required by a top right-back.
