Tottenham are to launch an early move for AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, according to Tuttosport.

The website’s report states that the London club are set to make a £43million bid before the summer window kicks off in June to beat rivals Manchester City and Juventus to the starlets signature.

Zaniolo, 19, has earned two caps for Italy and been involved six goals for his club in the Serie A. The youngster only arrived at Roma last year and his role in Claudio Ranieri’s side has seen his market value rise immensely.

According to reports, Mauricio Pochettino will bid early to avoid the competition in the transfer window.

Good move for Tottenham?

Absolutely. If available in the build up to the transfer window then Zaniolo would be a great fit for Spurs. You only have to look at the other clubs that want the youngster and that shows the potential he has.

When you look at the options Pochettino has compared to the teams around Tottenham and Zaniolo would bring more depth to the final third.

There is a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Heung Min Son and Lucas Moura with the absence of Harry Kane with not much chance to rest them. Spurs need more depth and that is obvious to see.

Nicolo Zaniolo would be a perfect fit for Tottenham and could be available at a bargain price.

Likely to happen?

If the reports are true that Zaniolo would want a move away from Italy should Roma not achieve Champions League football then there is no reason why not.

Tottenham reaching the semi-finals this season will do them no harm in attracting talent such as the Roma playmaker and if they were to bid early then the move could definitely happen.

The only thing harming this deal would be Spurs’ reluctance to spend big, or any, money in the last few windows. If they were to sign Zaniolo then it would be a surprise but everything points in favour of Spurs whether they were to place a bid or not.
