Rangers goalkeeper Jak Alnwick has been given the green light to leave the club this summer as they welcome offers for his sale regardless of what happens with the other shot stoppers at Ibrox, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football news source claim that the Gers are set to allow the former Newcastle and Port Vale stopper leave at the end of the season, having been out on loan for the entire season with Scunthorpe.

It is stated that the English side are keen on turning his temporary deal permanent but that Rangers will be open to offers from all clubs for the man signed by Mark Warburton shortly before his departure from his club in 2017.

Opinion

Alnwick’s future at Rangers already looked dead in the water last summer when he was allowed to leave on loan and so it should not come as a surprise that the Gers are willing to sell him off to the highest bidder 12 months later. He simply did not live up to expectations as a shot stopper and with Allan McGregor making the starting spot between the sticks his own, there is absolutely no chance of a comeback for the English talent. He has plenty of years left ahead of him in his career and if he can put together some form then maybe he will grow into a decent goalkeeper. Right now, he looks suited to the lower reaches of English football and if he has been happy at Scunthorpe then maybe he should ask Rangers to accept whatever bid they make for him this summer. He will not be missed at all by the Ibrox faithful, who want to see bigger and brighter things from their side moving forward.
