Stephen Warnock has blasted Leeds United for their form in 2019.

After their 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Monday, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have lost two games on the bounce and they now find themselves three points shy of the automatic promotion spots with two games to play.

Warnock believes that Leeds’ bid for automatic promotion has ended due to their form since January, not just because of their two poor results over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

“They looked tired, they looked lost of ideas,” said Warnock on EFL on Quest on Monday night [09:19pm].

“Their form since January has not been good enough. I think they’re probably ninth in the form table since January, losing seven out of 17.”

OPINION

Leeds have shown in spells that they have been good enough in 2019, but their inconsistencies have cost them more than anything else. Norwich and Sheffield United look as though they will earn automatic promotion and they are two teams who have their defences in order and a prolific goalscorer who has been spearheading their attack all season? Leeds have not really had either of them, with the side looking frail at the back when one of Pontus Jansson or Liam Cooper isn’t playing. They are Leeds’ only two senior centre-backs and it is a mystery as to why Bielsa did not add at least one or two more to his squad in the last two transfer windows. Leeds have the best manager in the league and a squad that has been punching above it’s weight due to the Argentine’s impact at Elland Road. However they clearly have their limits, as proven over the last two matches.
