Matthijs de Ligt is one of the best young centre-backs in world football and it is no shock at all to see so many Tottenham fans urging the club to sign the Ajax defender. De Ligt scored a thumping header for Ajax as the defied the odds to knock Juventus out of the Champions League on Tuesday in a display that is bound to attract attention from every club in the world that can afford to sign him. De Ligt is just 19-years-old but is Ajax’s captain, has 15 caps for the Netherlands and over 100 senior appearances across all competitions. He might not be better than Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk yet, but he is will on his way to be the best defender in the world. Tottenham have been linked with de Ligt with football.london reporting earlier this season that he has been on Spurs’ radar for quite some time. However he has played so well for Ajax that surely he is out of their reach now. It’ll be Barcelona or Real Madrid for the Dutch teenager, surely.
