Rangers remain fully in the hunt for Motherwell winger Jake Hastie, according to the Scottish Sun.

This comes after it was claimed that Rangers had pulled out from the race for his signature. However, the Scottish Sun claim this is not the case and that talks are ongoing at the moment.

The 21-year-old is out of contract in the summer and is also attracting interest from England and the MLS.

Steven Gerrard is said to be impressed with the impact Hastie has had in the Premiership, scoring six goals in 12 games.

OPINION

Six goals in his last 10 games have got Hastie noticed and Gerrard is still hoping he can persuade him to take the Blue next season. This comes after they were said to be frustrated at how the transfer was progressing, with the player even rumoured to be thinking about a switch to the MLS. Gerrard has part two of his Rangers rebuilding project to do in the summer and Hastie would be a good addition to Ibrox, especially as he wouldn’t come with a fee. He’s proved he can score goals in the Premiership and that’s exactly what Rangers need – options in attack. The MLS seems like an odd move for a young player who’s attracting interest from the likes of Rangers. We can’t think of a much better club for him to take the next step of his development at. Rangers are a club on the up and in Gerrard they have a manager who will be prepared to give young players a chance.
