When Steven Gerrard brought in 15 new faces to Ibrox over the summer transfer window of 2018, it was clear not everyone would make the grade at Rangers.

There were some success stories, the likes of Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor hitting the ground running on their returns to Scotland, while the less said about Umar Sadiq, the better.

One man who has so far failed to do anything of any note for the Light Blues is Eros Grezda, the Albanian international demonstrating limited talent before suffering an injury which has limited his game time ever since.

It would be fair to call the 24-year-old a flop considering how disappointing he has been and it would come as no surprise to anyone if he was shipped off this summer to somewhere where the pressure is not so great.

He has actually appeared three times in the last four league games – unsurprisingly missing out on the pressure cooker clash versus Celtic – as Gerrard clearly tries to get some sort of confidence instilled into his game.

However, it is not working as yet and his place in the side should be coming under more pressure thanks to a never-before-seen teen at Ibrox.

Joshua McPake might only by 17-years-old but he is making a big impact in the academy, having been pictured training alongside the first team earlier this season, and his performance for the under-23s against Celtic left senior staff member Graeme Murty drooling.

He told the official Rangers website: “Two that stood out I thought in different ways were Cammy Palmer and Josh McPake.

“Josh is a fairly mercurial talent that can do lots and lots of different things with the ball, and he has the challenge of putting it all together in a performance.”

With such an exciting youngster on the brink of the senior side, why Grezda is still getting games will be beyond many of the Ibrox faithful. It is time for the Albanian to be binned and McPake given his chance to make his mark as he looks to become a big name Rangers ace.
