Kilmarnock loanee goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has confirmed that he has held talks with Rangers over a potential move to Ibrox this summer as he eyes a battle at parent club Watford.

The 24-year-old has been on loan north of the border for the season and has been a mainstay for Steve Clarke’s side since breaking into the starting XI a couple of weeks into the campaign, appearing 27 times across all competitions.

With his temporary spell coming to an end in the summer, the 6’3″ colossus (source: Transfermarkt) has revealed talks with Killie’s Premiership rivals Rangers.

He told the Scottish Sun: “I’ve enjoyed my time with Kilmarnock a great deal, but it’ll be over in a few weeks.

“There have been talks with Rangers, although no firm offers and two German clubs have also shown interest in me. My priority will be to compete for a place at Watford next season.”

Opinion

Bachmann has been a consistent performer for Kilmarnock this season and you can imagine that anyone looking for a goalkeeper this summer will be casting their eye over the 24-year-old. Not only is he tall and a solid shot stopper, he has great confidence in his abilities – as proven by his belief he could challenge for a place at Premier League side Watford. The aim of his loan spell with Killie was no doubt to get him regular game time and improve his skills and judging by how much he has played this season, that has gone to plan. It seems as though Rangers’ talks will not be fruitful either, the Austrian obviously looking to make a mark back with the Hornets this summer. Maybe, if they deem him surplus to requirements for another year, the Light Blues can come to some sort of agreement. Otherwise they might well want to set their sights elsewhere ahead of the summer transfer window. Where that might be, only Steven Gerrard, Mark Allen and the transfer team at Ibrox know.
