Former Arsenal ace Lee Dixon has taken aim at Tottenham by warning them to ‘mind the gap’ after the Lilywhites’ defeat to London rivals West Ham on Saturday.

Michail Antonio scored the only goal of the game to not only hand Spurs their first goal conceded at their new stadium but to break their 100 per cent record in their new surroundings.

Taking to his personal Twitter account after the clash versus the Hammers, Dixon delivered his three word warning, with Arsenal now just four points behind with a game in hand, playing Leicester City on Sunday, in the hunt for a top four finish.

He wrote: “Mind the gap #fortress”.

Opinion

Just when Tottenham fans thought they might be safe from the chasing pack, this result comes along and leaves them looking cautiously over their shoulders. You can be sure that Dixon is not the only Gunner who has his sights set on leapfrogging their north London rivals in these final games of the season, although things are still not in their hands. Assuming Arsenal win their game in hand, which is by no means a certainty considering their recent form, then Spurs would remain one point ahead with two games left to play. To finish outside the top four this season would be a travesty for Mauricio Pochettino and his men, even with their impressive Champions League performances. Making sure they are among the elite of European football next season has got to be their priority and while they could do so by winning the Champions League outright, their best bet lies in finishing among the top four. Can they keep Arsenal off their tails? Only time will tell.
