COMMENTARY
Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko replaced Jan Vertonghen in the 39th minute of Spurs’ clash with Ajax and stole the show. The 29-year-old midfielder came on and constantly won the midfield battle for his side as well as pushed his team forward by making surging runs towards Ajax’s goal. Before Sissoko entered the game, Spurs were being dominated all over the pitch and you feared that Ajax would be able to secure an empathetic win. It says so much that as soon as the 29-year-old graced the pitch, Spurs played better across the board. Spurs may have lost 1-0 to Ajax on Tuesday but you feel it would have been much worse if the midfielder hadn’t entered the game when he did. It’s odd to think that Sissoko was Spurs’ saviour on Tuesday as it wasn’t that long ago that supporters would have been calling for his head. The 29-year-old struggled for form last season but in his current campaign he has been one of the club’s best players, so it’s no surprise one fan called him Spurs’ player of the season.

Moussa Sissoko arguably our player of the season.
It’s not rocket science he never stops running, never stops trying, finds another gear.
We could do with a few more like him.
Still in this tie at half time.

Half time thoughts:
Ajax play beautiful football
We’ve been so unlucky with injures
Rose is class
Wanyama playing awful
Sissoko is absolutely unreal
Hope Vertonghen is ok
Ajax won’t be able to keep this high press up, I believe we can get a goal

Great end to the 1st half. Wanyama has been poor. Sissoko changed the game. Sure we’ll get a goal next half.????#THFC #TOTAJA #COYS

@MoussaSissoko has changed the game. #Wanyama woeful. #Trippier poor. Need some energy and creativity. Still, we have it all to play for! #COYS! #UCL

We’ve lacked intensity until the end when Sissoko came on (unsurprisingly) but most importantly we miss someone in the middle that can control the play. Wanyama is years off his best form and it’s hurting us. Eriksen forgettable as well.
