Graham Roberts has delivered a disappointed verdict on Tottenham after they lost 1-0 to West Ham in Saturday’s early kick-off.

West Ham became the first team to win in the new Tottenham stadium and Spurs looked leggy and had few chances to score.

Roberts took to Twitter on Saturday evening and said, “Side looked very tired today, not a good performance!”

He added that he doubted there would be much training before the Champions League semi-final against Ajax or the game against Bournemouth next Saturday and called for two wins.

OPINION

Roberts is right, this was not a good performance from Tottenham at all. It’s the tail-end of a gruelling season but you’d think that adrenaline would kick in for Spurs with huge games coming up. They still haven’t confirmed their Champions League status for next season and their top-four hopes took a dent with this defeat. They’re still favourites to end up in the top four though – none of the teams up there seem capable of winning at the moment and if Arsenal and Chelsea win they’ll still be a point better off than the Gunners. The game against Ajax is the big worry. Without Harry Kane they’re starting to get found out and Heung-min Son is suspended for the first leg. That means that Lucas Moura and Fernando Llorente will likely get the nod and the latter looked really poor today. Vincent Janssen was better but he’s not in the Champions League squad. Pochettino desperately needs more strength in depth next season.
