Adrian Durham shared he found it absolutely shocking that Tottenham had lost 12 league games this season.

The talkSPORT broadcaster claimed that with Spurs having lost a third of their games and still being sat third in the league, it was a sign that Liverpool and Manchester City were notably ahead of their rivals.

“For me it’s a sign that beyond Liverpool and Man City there’s not a huge amount of quality when you think Spurs, according to the table, are the third best team,” said Durham on talkSPORT (16:37, Monday April 29th).

“And they’ve lost a third of their games and that’s absolutely shocking. To lose 12 games!”

Tottenham currently sit third in the table with 70th points, which is two points more than fourth-placed Chelsea but 22 points less than Manchester City.

OPINION

Durham seemed offended by the fact Spurs could sit third in the table having lost so many games this season. However at the end of the day, it’s all about racking up the most points so it doesn’t really matter how many times Tottenham have tasted defeated. Mauricio Pochettino’s team have made up for losing 12 times by winning 23 of their 36 games and only having one draw. When the smoke settles, will Spurs having lost 12 games really be an issue for anyone if they finish third? Surely not. These remarks by Durham just seem like him attempting to take a dig once again at Spurs as the broadcaster does seem to be one of the club’s biggest critics. Although it’s worth noting that it is a little bit of a concern how far in front Liverpool and Man City are. Yet then again Pep Guardiola’s side steamed to the title last season and look how much ground the Reds made up in the summer with some smart signings.
