COMMENTARY
There have been few better players to wear the light blue of the Manchester City shirt than David Silva and while he might be the wrong side of 30, his performances are still leaving the Etihad faithful drooling. This time it was Wednesday night’s derby day clash against local rivals Manchester United which saw the supporters turn to Twitter to gush over his talents, with one fan going as far to say he was “ashamed” for every doubting the Spanish maestro’s abilities after some sub-par performances of late. If there was one game for the veteran to turn up in it was this one and the manner in which he ran the pace of the game for City, pinging balls around the midfield and keeping United on their toes, proved he is not washed up yet. It might well have been his namesake Bernardo who opened the scoring but it was David who had the City fans head over heels – not for the first time in his Manchester City career, and probably not for the last.
