Robbie Savage has named Everton duo Lucas Digne and Gylfi Sigurdsson in his Premier League team of the week.

The pair both struck from long range in the stunning 4-0 over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, a result that moved the Toffees up to seventh in the table.

It also ensured that Marco Silva’s side recorded three consecutive home wins over top six clubs, having beaten Arsenal and Chelsea in their last two Goodison Park outings.

Savage announced his team of the week on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

OPINION

This is absolutely justified from Savage. Both Digne and Sigurdsson played their parts in a famous victory for the Blues, and one that could help them achieve European football next season. They weren’t the only two who stood out on Sunday – Richarlison, Bernard, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin also deserve honourable mentions – but the duo were exemplary throughout. Sigurdsson hasn’t always been at his best this season, but against United he ran the show, gliding around midfield, picking passes at ease, and catching David De Gea off guard with a thunderous low strike to make it 2-0. As for Digne, he is slowly becoming one of the most eye-catching full-backs in Europe. That is no exaggeration. He is measured and dependable at the back, but also positive and dangerous going forward. How Everton managed to steal him away from Barcelona is anybody’s guess, but now they have him, they must fight to keep him for as long as possible.
