Kenwright donates cash for travelling Everton fans to Palace

|

An Everton fan has revealed that club chairman Bill Kenwright has donated £5 to all the supporters travelling down to Crystal Palace on the coaches from Merseyside on Saturday.

Toffees fan Deborah Nixon posted on her Twitter account a photo of a £5 note and an envelope with the writing “With thanks Chairman Bill” on it, revealing that every supporter on the two coaches  from Goodison Park to Selhurst Park had received one.

The Toffees travel to the capital looking to complete the league double over the Eagles, having defeated Roy Hodsgon’s side 2-0 on their visit to the north west with late goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun.

Opinion

Everton are a club who are very much focused on the local community and it should come as no surprise to see Kenwright rewarding the supporters for their constant faithfulness this season. It is a great gesture considering how much these supporters will likely have already spent on their trips across the country, although you cannot help but feel £5 is nothing when you look at the price of food and drink at Premier League grounds. Either way, it is a generosity that seems to have been well received and after a roller-coaster of a season it is good to have some positivity at Goodison Park. Still, it will mean nothing if the Toffees do not come away with a win at Selhurst Park – after all, that is what the travelling faithful want to see. They would happily give their money back if it meant their side picking up three points.
