Mick Quinn has told Southampton that Newcastle United will see them in the Premier League next season with a “new contract” for Rafael Benitez.
The former Magpies player instantly took to his personal Twitter account to deliver his verdict on the game after Ayoze Perez bagged himself a hat-trick to ensure a 3-1 win for his side, a result which means that they have the three points that essentially assures them of their Premier League safety this season.
He added that he is optimistic that he will see Benitez rewarded with a new deal to be in charge of United in the next campaign.
“Perez Hat-trick NUFC 3-1 Southaampton Game Over and see you next Season in the Big League with a new Contract for Rafa,” he said.

Quinn pretty much echoes the opinions of many Newcastle fans following the team’s rather impressive win over Southampton on Saturday. Perez was particularly impressive for the Magpies, and his goal last week against Leicester has clearly spurred him on to produce what was arguably one of his best displays in a Newcastle shirt. The fans were no doubt in dreamland with this result, and rightly so – but the overriding message that comes from this is that Quinn is hoping to see Benitez managing the club next season. The saga surrounding a new deal for him has been ongoing for a while now and it remains to be seen when it will actually be figured out. Hopefully it will be soon, as his current deal expires in June – and why the club are stalling on it is rather baffling. Either way, this was an impressive win over the Saints.
