OPINION
Liam Cooper has been such a key player for Leeds United this season, so it is no surprise to see many supporters left feeling deflated after it was reported that he is a major doubt for the clash against Wigan on Friday. According to BBC Radio Leeds journalist Adam Pope, the 27-year-old defender is likely to miss the action at Elland Road on Good Friday, which means that Gaetano Berardi could start in his place alongside Pontus Jansson. Cooper missed the 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday last week with Berardi filling in at centre-back, and he did a great job filling in for the Whites’ captain. Leeds need Cooper back as soon as possible though because with two fixtures in the space of four days over Easter weekend, Marcelo Bielsa is going to need every option that he needs in his squad. One more injury or one suspension in that back-line could be an issue ahead of the trip to Brentford on Monday, especially if Cooper has not recovered in time.
Liam Cooper a major doubt for Friday’s visit of Wigan. #lufc

Not good, although you’d think we should be able to cope v Wigan …

Christ, thought he only pulled a muscle in his backside.. ? Then again I'm not a physio. Hoping for a speedy recovery @LiamCooper__ – a few tough fixtures coming up & we're gonna need no less than 7/10s all round if we're to take 6 points, although we're more than capable of it.

Shame to lose the captain, but thought Berardi did an excellent job as a stand in. How he wa dominant in the air when he’s 5ft 10 I’ll never know. He’s mad as a box of frogs but he’s our madman and I love him.

Cooper is a massive player for us and will be a loss if unavailable but hoping beradi can handle Wigan. And hopefully get cooper back for Brentford where he gets his sharpness for the villa game.
