Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks has been ruled out of the second clash against Man City with a groin injury, according to journalist Jonathan Veal.

Winks missed the 4-3 defeat, that saw Tottenham qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League, on Wednesday night.

Serge Aurier is also out of the game, while Moussa Sissoko will face a late fitness test.

Veal reported the injury updates on Thursday lunchtime.

With Winks out, Mauricio Pochettino will be desperately hoping that Sissoko comes through a late fitness test. With Eric Dier out too it leaves him really thin in midfield, with just Victor Wanyama as a recognised central mid. Wanyama did some good things against Man City on Wednesday night but he looked far from 100% after coming back from injury and another tough game in the space of a few days will be a big ask for him. There was more good news for Tottenham ahead of the weekend as Veal revealed that striker Harry Kane has “commenced rehabilitation”  on his ankle injury. He added that the full prognosis on his ankle injury should come shortly. Saturday’s game is going to be another huge test for Pochettino, who will now try to get his side to re-focus on finishing in the top-four in the Premier League. They might be through to the Champions League semi-finals but the top four is still the easiest way for them to play in the elite European competition again next season.
