Everton are plotting a swoop to sign Chelsea centre-forward Tammy Abraham, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Thursday [01:24am] that the Toffees are “considering making a move” for the 21-year-old striker, who has been firing on all cylinders while on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship this season.

It is understood that Premier League giants Chelsea could let the England international leave Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window, but Villa would also be interested in him if they are promoted to the top-flight.

Good move for Everton?

Abraham has been scoring goals for fun in the Championship this season and was understandably named in the PFA’s team of the year on Wednesday.

The £50,000-a-week [Spotrac] goal machine has scored 25 times in 37 appearances for Aston Villa this season and even though he had a disappointing loan spell at Swansea in the Premier League last term, this extra year in the second-tier is bound to have helped him develop a lot.

Abraham would be a quality signing for Everton and if Chelsea are willing to let him go, they should be able to snap up the English forward for a fair fee.

It will more than likely be a big fee, but that is expected when a young English striker is in red-hot form in front of goal.

Likely to happen?

Abraham seems like a realistic target for Everton and if Chelsea will consider letting him leave, there is every chance that the 21-year-old could head to Goodison Park in the summer.

However Aston Villa are also reportedly keen on signing Abraham if they are promoted, and that could be an issue for the Toffees.
