COMMENTARY
There are just some players out there who fans and managers alike can expect consistent displays from week in, week out. At West Brom, one of those particular individuals is Craig Dawson, which is why any sort of sub-par performance is going to be picked up on immediately. Unfortunately for the Baggies faithful they were made to witness a disappointing display from the usually reliable centre back against Reading on Monday afternoon, with many bemoaning the poor quality of the 28-year-old’s passing. Now as a man at the heart of the defence, his job is definitely not to be pinging balls forward and his inability to do the basics, instead focusing on trying to pull off something spectacular, left the supporters frustrated. It was not just his performance in possession which was a concern, with a couple also singling out his defensive frailties, which included a “lunge” of a tackle shortly before the end of the first half, as a serious problem. Not a great showing from someone who is usually so on top of their game.
