Mateusz Klich must be dropped if Leeds are to stand any chance of automatic promotion this season.

Kalvin Phillips was dropped by Marcelo Bielsa for Leeds’ trip to Brentford and it showed during the match. Leeds lacked steel and determination throughout the first-half and the home side took advantage with slick counter-attacks.

Adam Forshaw was the man preferred to Phillips and in this scenario he is not the player to blame for the Whites midfield problem. Klich has been ever-present in the United midfield all season but now the time has come for him to be replaced.

It is clear to see that his lack of desire to get to loose balls and track back is costing Leeds and their push for promotion.

Young players such as Jamie Shackleton have excelled this season and the starlet would have been a smart inclusion for Leeds with his pace and effort not going unnoticed through the campaign.

For some reason, the Polish international, Klich, is not being questioned by Bielsa and this is one of his few mistakes while in West Yorkshire.

Phillips, 23, was included in the EFL team of the year and is tipped by many to win Leeds’ player of the year. His defensive presence was sorely missed at Griffin Park and with Aston Villa up next, he must start for Leeds to stand a chance.
